Natural processes are part and subject of many of Ronald van der Meijs' works. He is interested in how nature and humans are organized: the consistency of growth and decay, the processes of evolutionary adaptation to a changing environment. He is particularly interested in how humans create technology as a response to nature's manifestations, which includes the making of art and culturing.
Each work is a metaphorical and conceptual interplay of sound, space, and materials. It is intended to lend a narrative quality to the high-technological, architectural, 'machine-like' appearance of the work, causing them to transcend their merely technological nature and questioning the extent to which our actions have been conditioned. His work is a dialogue between nature and technology. In order to investigate and to show this issue, he combines technology with natural and rural elements. “Nature has it’s own order, time and rhythm”
